Our Story
Our grandmothers, who came from all over the world and especially from the Mediterranean, possessed ancient knowledge of medicinal plants, traditions, compounds, and teachings passed down from generation to generation. This healing wisdom was rooted in the principles of Maimonides' medicine. Our grandmother, Mimi, was a midwife by profession who prepared various natural remedies from the entire plant kingdom. This ancient knowledge was passed down through generations and preserved in our family over the years.
From this knowledge, a unique family formula was born, Mimi's Sheeh. A formula passed down in our family from generation to generation, like a treasure kept in the vault of life. After more than 80 years of continuous use in the family, alongside research that lasted an entire decade, we have succeeded in combining tradition with science and bringing the formula to the world.
Mimi's Sheeh Natural Formula for the Digestive Tract
Based on Artemisia Judaica from the Land of Israel, known as the "king of desert plants," which has an ancient tradition of use.
The unique formula of Mimi's Sheeh undergoes a natural extraction process from the plant. In folk tradition, the plant was valued for digestive support and relief, including for flu and colds. In Bedouin tradition, the plant is used to support the body against parasites and malaria, as well as to strengthen the body's vitality.
Initial studies indicate scientific interest in the Artemisia plant in various contexts such as immune system mechanisms, sugar balance, and physiological processes after birth. However, these findings are still under investigation and do not constitute proven medical evidence.
Who is this suitable for?
For anyone interested in experiencing a multi-generational tradition of natural support for the digestive system.
To support a sense of vitality during times of transition and challenge.
Suitable for daily use and recommended for travelers, especially before flights, as a natural way to maintain balance, vitality, and resilience.
Mimi's Sheeh is a dietary supplement. The product should not be used as a substitute for conventional medical treatment. Folk traditions alone do not constitute medical recommendations.
Where Science and Nature Connect
Dr. Rivka Ophir, a scientist and medicinal plant researcher from the Arava, conducted groundbreaking research in 2012 on behalf of the Ministry of Health on Artemisia plants, intending to identify unique species and examine their activity in the laboratory. The research focused on identifying active compounds that arouse scientific interest in the context of biological processes and association with treating certain types of cancer, with particular focus on the active compound artemisinin. Gidi Gur, who specializes in medicinal plants, notes that "at the clinical level and based on existing research, it can be concluded that Artemisia judaica possesses adaptogenic, anti-inflammatory, antiemetic (combats nausea), and anthelmintic (helps against worms and parasites) qualities." Alongside clinical research, Gur recounts Bedouin traditions of Artemisia judaica, describing it as a rare plant with a unique presence that helps with febrile diseases of bacterial or epidemic nature, digestive tract diseases, especially diarrhea and worms, general weakness, and heart diseases, with external use as an antiseptic and to promote wound healing. Truly befitting the king of the desert! A Nobel Prize was awarded to Chinese researcher Youyou Tu for discovering the plant's mechanisms, particularly artemisinin, extracted from Chinese wormwood (Artemisia annua). This discovery is known for its significant contribution to understanding mechanisms for combating malaria. Additionally, artemisinin is recognized as a natural antioxidant with anti-inflammatory effects, which creates support for biological processes related to reducing the impact of free radicals and balancing the body's systems.
When Tradition Meets Science
The Desert Wormwood and the Judean Wormwood are also known as Sheeh. Mentioned in the Bible in Deuteronomy, Proverbs, Amos, and more. Maimonides (Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon, Rambam), 13th century, classified wormwood in the category of "hot and dry" plants. Rabbi Meir Ibn Aldabi, 14th century, mentioned the traditional use of a hot bath with wormwood added to relieve female discomfort. Ibn Sina, 11th century, "The Great Canon" described the traditional use of wormwood-based oil to soothe irritated skin and support hair growth. In North African traditions, wormwood is considered an important plant in daily life. Nissim Krispil, in his book 'The Herbal Bag', notes that the plant is central to treating the digestive system in general and to treating worms. In Bedouin communities, wormwood is considered a plant of special value. Drinking wormwood tea is considered to relieve coughs and colds, treat nausea and loss of appetite, and strengthen the uterus. In addition, the Bedouins use the plant to help with intestinal cramps, infections, and stomach pain, heart pain (mental), help with circumcision, and relieve malaria and ringworm. The pulp of the plant is used by the Bedouins to apply to scorpion stings and snake bites. Records of 18th-century explorers' travels tell us that while they were crossing the Jordan in the northern Dead Sea, they would stuff bags with the plant to put in their noses to prevent bites and malaria, and also to carry a bag with the plant on their clothes. The use of the plant in the northern Dead Sea (which is not its natural place of growth) confirms the trade in this plant in the spice markets of that period, and indicates its importance.
